A Look Back at the IAHR Europe Congress: Innovation, Networking, and Engagement for Ubertone!
The Ubertone team was delighted to actively participate in the 9th IAHR Europe Congress held in Luleå, Sweden. Between managing our exhibition booth, presenting our latest research, and contributing to the scientific community, these few days were incredibly rewarding, filled with inspiring exchanges and new opportunities.
The scientific highlight of our participation was the oral presentation given by Marie Burckbuchler. She shared advanced research crucial for the future of hydro-acoustic measurement:
"Investigation of uncertainty from hydraulic perturbation in high-resolving Acoustic Doppler Velocimetry Profiling" By Marie Burckbuchler, Stéphane Fischer, Markus Noack, and Nils Rüther.
This project sparked discussions and interest from the audience. It is a core part of Marie's PhD thesis, which she kicked off this year—marking a highly promising start to her doctoral research! The constructive feedback from the scientific community will greatly fuel the next steps of her work on high-resolution profiling uncertainty management.

The congress was also an excellent opportunity to help shape the governance and animation of research within the IAHR. As the vice-chair of the EMI (Experimental Methods and Instrumentation) Committee, Marie joined exciting discussions about potential future projects for the committee, collecting innovative ideas and feedback which will be shared and discussed within the EMI Technical Committee (TC) to continue pushing the boundaries of our discipline.
Beyond the technical sessions, the congress offered incredible opportunities to connect with peers and unwind in truly breathtaking settings:
- The Young Professional Night (YPNight): Organized by the brand-new Scandinavian YP Network, this fantastic evening kicked off from Luleå's Southern Harbor with a scenic boat trip, leading to a memorable barbecue surrounded by the stunning islands of Luleå's archipelago.
- The Gala Conference Dinner: Hosted at Hotell Storforsen in Vidsel, this spectacular evening began with an awe-inspiring pre-walk right along the edge of the roaring rapids—a perfect and powerful reminder of the raw hydraulics that inspire our community's work!

Whether it was at our booth discovering our velocity profilers or during the social and technical sessions, we were thrilled to connect with you. A huge thank you to the organizers of the IAHR Europe Congress and to all the researchers, partners, and professionals who stopped by to meet us.
We look forward to the exciting collaborations ahead!
